SUBS USED: TAM, ROSS,
GAME SUMMARY:
H/F time 3-1 F/T 3-2
Abronhills run in the GDSML Cup ended before it got started this year. With only one change from the easy win against Deanpark, saw Jack squeeze himself back into the team due to Sean being missing. Grant was pushed into Centre Mid with the Judge, and utility man Michael McQ pushing out to right mid.
Strathclyde looked more up for it from the start than Abronhill and just seemed to want it more. Strathclyde took the lead after about 20mins after a through ball saw Jack one on one with there striker who finished well. Abronhill bounced back superbly, a long ball from Joe found Michael McG, who found Billy on the left wing. Billy weighted his pass superbly over the last defender and a fantastic finish from Kev saw the game tied at 1-1. With 15 mins of the half remaining Abronhill fell asleep and allowed Strathy uni two more goal. Their 2nd was finished superbly by the right mid leaving Innes with no chance. Their third, well i dont want to mention Innes dropped the ball after catching it so i will just say i never saw it.
Into the 2nd half and Abronhill played much better. Some meaty challenges from both sides saw a few cards but nothing too bad. Strathy nearly took a 4-1 lead but from a fine save from Innes. From that save Danny played a long ball through the centre of the pitch for Kev to pick up and run in on goal and finish well once again, for his 14th of the season.
Abronhill had a few chances throughout the match to get more goals and on another day the result may have been better. Strathy Uni are a totally different outfit from last season and played some good football. The next two meetings in the league should be interesting.
We just need to play every game like we did in the 2nd half, we started far too slowly and were second to most balls in the 1st half. Back to winning ways on Saturday in the league im sure.
Note: Michael McG after last weeks input in the match report refused to comment on any of his chances he missed!
