GAME SUMMARY:
H/F time 1-2 F/T 1-3
Abronhill went into this game full of confidence after the 2nd half display last week against Strathy Uni. A huge thanks must be given to Davey Walker and Rab for brushing the field free of water after the ref had initially called the game off. Glenavon players didn’t look too bothered either way, so the Abronhill players too upon themselves to get the surface water shifted. Some great sweeping action saw the park passed playable. Abronhill started with Raymond at right mid and Jordi starting only his 2nd game of the season up front in place of Kev.
Abronhill enjoyed most of the first 15 mins and it was Kanye who scored the first goal. From a corner the ball rattled off a few legs before dropping to Grant to finish from 10 yards through the keepers legs. As per usual this season Abronhill lost a stupid goal. With Danny judged to have pushed while going for a header, their player scored direct from the free kick with a good finish, 1-1. Abronhill had several chances to score more but it was Jordi who got his first of the season too make it 2-1, Joe charging down a clearance and from the ricochet Jordi picked the ball up and scored from 18 yards under the OAP keeper.
A positive half time team talk saw Abronhill control the 2nd half which Glenavon limited to only a few chances. Now the bit I've been looking forward to. From one of Glenavons few attacks Innes collected the ball and a quick throw out found Joe. This time instead of a punt up field, Joe went on a somewhat Danny McGrain-esk run. Playing a neat one-two with Grant on the half way line before gathering the ball again and dodging not one but two sliding tackles, before playing a perfectly weighted ball through to Jordi. Jordi didn't disappoint and scored a screamer from 18 yards leaving the keeper no chance. Goal of the season surely. After Joes nose stopped bleeding after that run the match resumed.
A comfortable win which should have maybe seen more goals, but a hard fought 3 points in the bag.
