GAME SUMMARY:
H/F time 0-2 F/T 3-5
An eventful game saw Abronhill grab a superb win against the students. Abronhill Started well and had Strathclyde under some pressure from the word go. Billy grabbed the opener from a corner after the Strathy defender missed it at the front post and Billy was on the line to chest home. Strathy had a good chance but could only clip the top of the bar. Billy being the menace he is grabbed his second by pressuring there centre half on the 18 yard box and robbing him of the ball, to poke home for a 2nd. Billy never gives up the cause, hes like a pitbull with a burst baw. Michael McQ replaced chocolate body Joe at right back.
Into the 2nd half and Strathy uni grabbed a goal back from nothing really, the ball rattled about in the 18yard box and somehow found its way past soapy.
Now for the fun part: With Strathy Uni pushing for a second a hopefull ball into the ball led to Soapy coming to punch away, but Grant and 2 or 3 strathy boys also went for it and Soapy ended up being the meat in a 4 man sandwich. On the deck he wriggled like a fish out of water in agony. With everyone expecting him to get up, soapy didnt move and the injury was more serious than thought, an ambulance was phoned and 30 minutes later he was taking in more oxygen and air than a Southern Californian Mother squeezing out 8 babies. ( As shown below)
With Big Dave going in goals and looking every part the goalkeeper ( How wrong could i have been?) the game restarted. Abronhill pushed for more goals and superb break found Billy this time on the left wing, he took on the defender before crossing superbly for Grant to run in and bullet a header into the ground and into the roof of the net, 3-1 Abronhill and cruising. Then it was self destruct time. Poor defending gave there striker to much time on the 18 yard box to pick his pass and the left winger had far to much time to look up and lob poor dave in goals. 3-2. Soon after it was 3-3 and god only knows what dave was thinking, a speculative shot from 20 yards seemed an easy catch for Dave but he assumed it was going over and into the net it settled. 3-3 and Abronhill had to show real bottle to win this match.
Apologies to Tony as me and Iain were too busy laughing at Soapys picture and missed the build up, but we did look up in time to see Tony finish superbly past the keeper, 4-3. Tony now has as many goals as he does Yellow cards.
The game was put beyond any doubt after a superb break, a through ball found Billy again down the right wing, and a quick look up spotted Kev powering in on goal, with a defender tight on him, he did well to launch himself at the ball and finish superbly with the header. His new boots still havnt scored.
Superb 5-3 win and well fought after the game going back to 3-3. Need to keep the spirit going into Tuesdays match against Scotsman.
